A popular 18-year-old high school football player was shot and killed at a party at a house party in Humble, Texas on Saturday night.
It was Jarvon Coles. Jarvon was a great student and athlete. He was an excellent footballer. Everyone who knew Jarvon said he was a good person. He was a senior in high school with excellent grades and planned to go to college to play football.
The party was held at an Airbnb rental house on Fieldwick Lane where about 50 to 60 people were present. Police believe someone outside the house fired shots towards the party, hitting Jarvon Coles. Soon after the gunshots were fired, the party turned chaotic, leaving the promising young man critically wounded.
Initially, the people could not understand his condition and considered it a seizure. It was during CPR attempts that partygoers discovered that he had been shot in the chest. Jarvon passed away while he was being rushed to the local hospital.
HCSO Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said, “It is believed that one or two shooters, about one block away, intentionally shot in the direction of the house party, striking the male.”
The person who shot Jarvon hasn’t been caught and may have escaped in a car. The police have started investigation into his murder, asking people to come up with information.
Coles had high dreams of attending Lamar University and playing football. His grandfather, Braxton Coles, underlined the need for parental vigilance, saying, “Parents, please keep your kids close. No matter how hard you try, you can’t save them.”
With a 4.1 GPA and two-time first-team all-district linebacker at North Shore High School, he was accepted by 15 colleges, his grandfather told the local media.
His friends and family are very sad about his death.
Police authorities suspect that the party was advertised on social media. Police said that the mishap took place on an Airbnb space. But, the Airbnb clarified that the incident did not take place during the reservation time.
Coles’ friend, DaMeko Williams, tearfully recalled him as “a great person on and off the field.”
